What a difference it makes when extracting wastewater samples on the Presto!
During a recent visit to the Orange County Sanitation District (OCSAN), our technical sales team, Jeffrey Nichol and Des Robb, demoed our Presto Accelerated SPE System. Combined with our anti-clogging solutions, the Presto system was used to support OCSAN’s initiative to pivot from liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) to solid phase extraction (SPE) for wastewater following EPA Method 625.
The customer initially encountered significant bottlenecks using a vacuum manifold with traditional SPE cartridges on a typical wastewater sample — 3 hours for the acid fraction and over 9 hours for the base/neutral fraction, with samples still left behind. Given the known challenges, it was highly encouraging when the Presto system with SPE Mini-disks and anti-clogging tips successfully loaded the 1L samples in under 40 minutes! The combined time savings and automation promise much greater efficiencies and we look forward to continuing our developments with OCSAN.
